About Parody Tours
Parody Tours began its journey in 1941, when it became Gibraltar’s very first taxi and limousine company. What started as a small family venture quickly grew; by 1945, a fleet of 12 vehicles criss-crossed the Rock, and by 1950 the company had branched out into mini-coach services and a local travel agency, opening new doors for visitors and locals alike.
But everything changed on 8 June 1969. When the Spanish Government abruptly closed the frontier with Gibraltar, the flow of visitors stopped overnight. Faced with this sudden hardship, the Parody family refused to give in. Instead, they headed across the peninsula, building new businesses from the ground up to support their family through the long years of uncertainty.
Then, in 1982, a glimmer of hope emerged. The pedestrian gates reopened, and Sixto Parody—together with his family—threw himself into preparing for the day tourists would return. Throughout 1982 and 1983, they rebuilt, reorganised, and readied themselves for a new chapter.
Their perseverance was rewarded in February 1985 when the border finally reopened to traffic. Once again, visitors holidaying in Southern Spain (Andalucía) could journey into Gibraltar, and organised tours breathed new life into the business.
In 2016, Parody Tours proudly celebrated its 75th anniversary—a milestone honouring the resilience, vision, and unwavering determination of its founder, Sixto Parody, and the generations who helped carry his legacy forward.
